1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?
Cookies are small text files that may be stored on your browser or device when you visit a website or use an online service. Cookies can help a service work properly, remember preferences, keep users signed in, improve security, understand usage, and improve the user experience.
Similar technologies may include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, device identifiers, software development kits, and other technologies that store or access information on a browser or device.
Because Off Menu is intended to operate as a mobile-first product, similar technologies may also include app storage, secure storage, local device cache, and mobile analytics or diagnostic technologies used to operate and improve the app.
2. HOW WE USE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
Off Menu may use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential functionality: To operate the service, keep users signed in, remember session information, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, and make core features work.
- Preferences: To remember choices such as selected city or market, cuisine preferences, deal-type preferences, display settings, and other app or account preferences.
- Analytics and performance: To understand how users interact with Off Menu, identify errors, measure performance, improve features, and maintain the reliability of the service.
- Security: To help protect accounts, detect suspicious activity, prevent misuse, and support authentication.
- Legal and consent records: To remember privacy, cookie, or consent choices where applicable.
3. TYPES OF COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES WE MAY USE
- Strictly necessary cookies and technologies: These are required for Off Menu to function. They may support login, authentication, account security, fraud prevention, load balancing, session management, and privacy or consent preferences.
- Functional cookies and technologies: These help remember user choices and improve the experience, such as selected city, location preferences, saved filters, cuisine preferences, deal preferences, or display preferences.
- Analytics and performance cookies and technologies: These help us understand how Off Menu is used, which features are working, what errors occur, and how to improve the service. These technologies are used for internal analytics and product improvement.
- Advertising and targeting cookies: Off Menu does not use advertising or targeting cookies for alpha. We do not use cookies or similar technologies for third-party advertising, retargeting, cross-app tracking, cross-site behavioral advertising, or sale/share of personal information for advertising purposes.
- Social media cookies: Off Menu does not use social media cookies or social media plugins for alpha.
4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
Some cookies or similar technologies may be provided by third-party service providers that help us operate, secure, host, monitor, analyze, or improve Off Menu.
These providers may include hosting providers, cloud infrastructure providers, data storage providers, authentication providers, analytics providers if used, error monitoring providers, security providers, or other operational service providers.
These service providers are permitted to process information only as needed to provide services to Off Menu and are not approved to use Off Menu user data for their own advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.
5. MOBILE APP TECHNOLOGIES
When Off Menu is used as a mobile application, we may use technologies that are similar to cookies but operate within the mobile app environment. These may include app storage, secure storage, local cache, device identifiers, analytics events, crash logs, diagnostic logs, and preference storage.
These technologies may be used to keep the app working, maintain login sessions, store preferences, improve performance, troubleshoot errors, and protect the security of the service.
For alpha, Off Menu does not use mobile technologies for cross-app tracking, retargeting, or third-party advertising.
6. LOCATION-RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
Off Menu may use location-related information to help users find food and drink specials near them or within a selected city or market.
For alpha, Off Menu may support user-selected city or market, search location, approximate location, or foreground device location while using the app.
Off Menu does not use background location tracking, continuous location tracking, always-on GPS tracking, or location history for alpha unless a future version of this Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy says otherwise.
Users should be able to use core discovery features by manually selecting a city or market even if they do not allow device-location access.
7. HOW YOU CAN CONTROL COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
You may be able to control cookies and similar technologies through your browser, device settings, operating system settings, app permissions, or in-app privacy settings where available.
- Browser controls: Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or limit cookies. If you block or delete cookies, some parts of Off Menu may not work properly.
- Mobile controls: On mobile devices, you may be able to control app permissions, location access, tracking permissions, notifications, and local app data through your iOS or Android device settings.
- Location controls: You may control location permissions through your device settings. For alpha, Off Menu should not require background location access.
- Consent controls: Where a consent banner or preference control is available, you may update your cookie or tracking preferences through that control.
You can also change your cookie consent choice directly at any time:
8. DO NOT TRACK AND GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROLS
Some browsers offer Do Not Track or similar signals. Because there is not yet a uniform industry standard for responding to all such signals, Off Menu may not respond to every Do Not Track signal.
Where required by applicable law and technically feasible, we will honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals.
9. CHANGES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, our data practices, or Off Menu features.
The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage users to review this Cookie Policy periodically.
